About Us - the Witney Woodland Volunteers

WWV are passionate about the environment in which we live. We are mainly retired and offer two hours on Monday mornings to maintain areas of woodland and footpaths in Witney and surrounding area through planting, cutting back vegetation, litter picking, removing invasive species, etc. We are also the custodians of Deer Park Wood and Deer Park South, a twenty acre site in West Witney, where we manage and maintain the wood for the benefit of the local community. Our overriding aim has always been to make Witney a more pleasant place in which to live.

On other pages you will find examples of What We Do on a typical Monday morning, as well as information about Deer Park Wood and Deer Park South.

The Information page contains documents that provide more detailed information about the wood and its flora and fauna, and the Newsletters provide updates on what is happening in Deer Park Wood, and other activities we have been involved with.

Origins

The group was set up in June 2006 in consultation with West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC), and we value our continuing close relationship with them, as well as Witney Town Council and Oxfordshire County Council.
